The List of Contraindications

Who is not a good candidate for microblading/permanent make-up?

  • Those under 18 years old.

  • Those who are pregnant or nursing.

  • Those who have skin conditions on or near eyebrows. This includes rashes, psoriasis, eczema, rosacea, shingles, varicella, etc. Minor scars are ok.

  • Those with allergies to alcohol or numbing agents as these are used during the procedure.

  • Those who have had Juvederm, Botox or other fillers done in the eyebrow area in the last 4 weeks.

  • Those who are prone to post-inflammatory hypo-pigmentation or keloids.

  • Those who have a transmittable blood disease such as HIV or Hepatitis.

  • Those who have hemophilia or are taking blood thinning medication/supplements.

  • Those who are going through chemotherapy or have active cancer - we will request a doctor’s note before we can perform the procedure on you.

  • Those who have healing disorders, uncontrolled high blood pressure or mitral valve disorder.

  • Those who are taking any skin medication like Accutane and/or steroids, which thin and make the skin more sensitive. Please wait 6 months after getting off any skin medication before scheduling your appointment.

  • Those who are on any AHA’s or OTC creams for exfoliating, anti-aging, tone correcting or fading. They will discolor the microbladed eyebrows so make sure you stop them at least 2 weeks before scheduling your appointment.

  • Those who have had eyelifts done or blepharoplasties, please wait 3 months at least before getting microblading done.

  • Those with a dark previous eyebrow tattoo, microblading or permanent make-up. The tattoo, microblading or permanent make-up must be faded by at least 80% or be light enough for us to be able to microblade hairstrokes or cover it fully with shading. If you have a previous eyebrow tattoo, permanent make-up or microblading, please send us an email with a picture of your eyebrows with no make-up on, so we can evaluate. Our email address is brows@domicroblading.com.
